Graphic Design = Change Agent

Great video on how New York City’s famous Abyssinian Baptist Church -
abyssinian.org is central to this design case study by Bobby Martin. In it, he tells how the rebranding effort he led for the church (he’s also worked at Ogilvy + Mather) expanded to involve the surrounding community in Harlem. An example of how design can lead to change. Continue Reading…

What is it you do?

Tim Stevens caught my attention when he said,

What if every staff member could explain what they do in one text message, or in one post on Twitter? It would cause them to boil down what they do…it would be a phrase that could be easily memorized and repeated.

I LOVE this idea.

In my experience, my job descriptions have always had a line on the bottom that stated “will perform misc tasks”, and I find a lot of falling under this line of my job description.

What if my job description was more of a mission statement, who I am and what I am about. If it is a strong statement, it should imply the obvious “team player, troubleshoot, attention to details, etc” job description lingo as being standard in fabric of being an employee in an organization.

How would you simplify your job description?

Elizabeth Hunnicutt

elizabethhunnicutt.com homepage

Mitchell Mantra

20110118_032

We got the idea for a “Family Mantra” while reading Patrick Lencioni book “The Three Big Questions for a Frantic Family” This is our family rally cry and to help keep it in front of us and help us to shape our decisions and our kids, we looked to my sister-in-law’s shop to help us. We hung it in front of our fireplace.

While on Facebook, look at your URL address; if you see http: instead of https: then you don’t have a secure session and you can be hacked. So, to change this:

- Go to Account (in the upper right corner of the screen)
- Click: Account | Account Settings | Account Security
- Then click Change
- Check at least the first setting, otherwise FB will default to the non-secure setting.
